tack Overflow and Stack Exchange's page layout kinda bugs me. I never use or want the left or right columns, and often the code in the middle column is severely truncated, making it a bad experience for anything but the smallest of code discussions. So I opened the Javascript inspector and created a bookmarklet to fix the problem. Wish I had done this years ago.

To "install" it, just drag this bookmarklet icon into your bookmark bar and give it whatever name you like. I use "↔︎" . Then when you're on a SO/SE page, just click on the bookmarklet and the page transforms nicely. Drag this to your bookmark bar: [bookmarklet |function%20g(n){return%20document.getElementById(n)};var%20a=g("sidebar");a.parentNode.removeChild(a);a=g("left-sidebar");a.parentNode.removeChild(a);a=g("mainbar");a.style.width="100%25";a=g("content");a.style.width="100%25";a.style.maxWidth="100%25"|]

Try it out and/or season to taste. Let me know if there's something better or if there's a mistake. I've only tried it on Safari on macOS.

Update Chrome seems to be unable to do this currently. Not sure why.

& Thanks to Walter for help improving the Javascript to support more browsers.:
